I'm a Commander at Austin Travis County EMS. I'm an ICU Nurse at Dell Seton. I was President of the Austin EMS Association. I'm running for City Council District 8 so that the people who love and care for Austin can also afford to be apart of it. I will bring practical, results-oriented leadership to City Hall.

Selena Xie is a Commander at Austin Travis County EMS, an ICU nurse in the Dell Seton Surgical ICU, and the former Austin EMS Association President. She has more than 15 years of frontline public safety experience. As a labor leader, she negotiated contracts that delivered significant wage increases, family leave, and improved working conditions for Austin EMS professionals. She has fought for working families, stronger public safety, accessible healthcare, and a more affordable Austin. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she advocated for the resources frontline medics needed to care for critically ill patients. She has helped advance mental health crisis response, violence prevention, and harm reduction, and worked to expand access to emergency services and community resources. Selena also helped found Asian Texans for Justice, advocating for Asian communities, language access, and immigrant inclusion. A Texas native, she believes government should be accountable, responsive, and focused on improving people’s everyday lives.
