Iowa Secretary of Agriculture

Our Revolution is proud to endorse Chris Jones for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture — a research scientist, author, water quality expert, and fearless advocate ready to take on corporate agriculture and fight for clean water, sustainable farms, and thriving rural communities.

Chris Jones is a research scientist, author, and one of Iowa’s leading water quality experts who has spent more than 40 years advocating for clean water and sustainable agricultural practices across the state.

During his career, Jones managed the water quality testing laboratory at Des Moines Water Works for eight years, helping oversee operations at one of the world’s largest nitrate removal facilities built to address Iowa’s agricultural runoff crisis. He also spent four years as an environmental scientist at the Iowa Soybean Association, where he helped deploy some of the state’s first independent water quality monitoring systems.

Mike Naig - Incumbent

The Iowa Farm Bureau Political Action Committee (PAC) has designated Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and U.S. Senate candidate Ashley Hinson as a “Friend of Agriculture” for the 2026 general election on Nov. 3. Naig and Hinson have a proven track record of leading the way on issues that matter to Farm Bureau members and understand that all types of agriculture, including crops, livestock and niche markets, are key to growing a more prosperous Iowa. Naig, who grew up on a farm in northern Iowa, has served as Iowa secretary of agriculture since 2018. He previously served as the deputy secretary at the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
