U.S. Senate, Iowa

Josh Turek is a two-time Paralympic gold medalist for Team USA and a State Legislator who represents the reddest seat held by a Democrat in the state of Iowa. Born with spina bifida after his dad was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam, Josh overcame 21 surgeries by the age of 12 to eventually represent the U.S. at four Paralympics.

After his basketball career ended with a gold medal in Tokyo in 2021, Josh ran to represent his hometown of Council Bluffs in the legislature. Running in a seat that Donald Trump had already won twice, Josh pushed his chair up hills and crawled up stairs to talk to Iowans of all political stripes, eventually winning by six votes. He was re-elected by a five-point margin at the same time Trump was winning the seat by eight points, not only because of his work ethic but because he’s developed a reputation as a common-sense, bipartisan legislator.

State Representative and former Paralympian Josh Turek has spent his political career fighting for working families and advocating for disability rights. He wants a foreign policy prioritizing diplomacy over endless wars. “I want to make sure that we don’t end up in forever wars and forever conflicts as well…If we’re going to put our great men and women in harm’s way, we need to make sure that these conflicts have the approval of Congress.”

During her years as an award-winning reporter, Congresswoman Hinson (IA-2) shared the stories of countless Iowans on the local news. Hinson is now running to represent Iowa in the U.S. Senate, where those stories will continue to inform her as she shapes federal policy and improves the lives of workers, farmers, seniors, veterans and families. As a congresswoman, Hinson has had a strong conservative track record of making government more efficient, delivering tax cuts for Iowa families and respecting Americans’ taxpayer dollars.

Senator Joni Ernst's retirement has opened up a seat in a state battered by destructive Republican policies from the state and federal governments, including tariffs. Democratic state representative and former Paralympian Josh Turek is running against Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, a strong Trump supporter. Turek is focused on addressing the real concerns of Iowans, who are poised to deliver big results for Democrats up and down the ballot.

The Iowa Farm Bureau Political Action Committee (PAC) has designated Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and U.S. Senate candidate Ashley Hinson as a “Friend of Agriculture” for the 2026 general election on Nov. 3. Naig and Hinson have a proven track record of leading the way on issues that matter to Farm Bureau members and understand that all types of agriculture, including crops, livestock and niche markets, are key to growing a more prosperous Iowa. Hinson is running to represent Iowa in the U.S. Senate, following Sen. Joni Ernst’s announcement that she would not seek reelection. Hinson currently represents Iowa’s 2nd District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She was first elected to Congress in 2020 and previously served in the Iowa House from 2016-2020.
