Alex Bores has emerged as one of the country’s leading voices on AI accountability and the dangers of unchecked corporate technology power. A State Assemblymember and former tech worker, Alex is fighting to regulate artificial intelligence, strengthen democracy protections, and challenge monopolistic corporate influence over public life and politics.

It would have been Kasky. Nina is the highest scoring remaining candidate (only one above 6), but Bores is the highest scoring candidate polling above 10%

PSC is proud to endorse Alex Bores for U.S. Congress in District 12. As a State Assembly member, Bores has been a consistent supporter of public higher education, co-sponsoring legislation to restore and expand funding for CUNY. A champion of working families and public institutions, Alex Bores has demonstrated a commitment to the values PSC members and CUNY students depend on.

Jim Owles Democratic Club candidate questionnaire (jimowles.org, Mar 2026), Q on NSA warrantless searches:
"No. As the author of the strongest AI accountability law in the country, I know how easily warrantless surveillance gets weaponized against immigrants, LGBTQ people, journalists, and protesters. Congress should require warrants and close the data-broker workaround that lets the government buy what it would otherwise need a warrant to obtain."
In an Axios/IG clip: "The Fourth Amendment is not optional! …vote NO on any reauthorization without a real warrant requirement."

🟢 Leading the Future, the Big Tech super PAC, has spent $5,750,919 trying to defeat this candidate — more than against any other candidate in America. Full transparency: super PACs tied to Anthropic and crypto investor Chris Larsen have spent independently in his support. We recommend him on his record. This race is too close for us to call — vote Bores or Lasher to elect an abundance champion
We are excited to endorse Lasher and Bores on their own merits, but also because either would be so much better than the alternatives. Jack Schlossberg is woefully underqualified and has crossed the line from ambition and optimism to selling snake oil to voters, most disappointingly in rallying NYCHA residents against a much-needed redevelopment plan.
Bores grew up in the district and has served in the assembly since 2023. His work as a computer scientist (and for Palantir) has been a focus of this race. We do not see anything disqualifying in that experience; instead, Bores has put his background to work for the public. He authored New York's major AI safety act, which requires the largest artificial intelligence developers to maintain safety protocols and report critical incidents. It is one of the only laws passed nationally to regulate the AI industry at all and for his efforts, Bores is the target of millions of dollars in attack ads from major technology companies. Bores has also sponsored land value tax reform legislation—an innovative approach that removes the incentive to hold vacant parcels in a housing market under pressure. Bores has also worked throughout his time in Albany on agile procurement legislation, shared public services, and civil service modernization. He comes to policy questions with fresh eyes and does his homework to reach for new answers rather than falling back on received wisdom. We think that approach will serve Congress well.
Both Bores and Lasher would be much better in Congress than any of their opponents. We cannot recommend one over the other at this time, but we may revisit as the race continues.
