Avitabile and Malinowski pace with each other in their support for enabling more homes and making it safer and easier to walk, bike, and take transit. Avitabile’s patience would be an asset in liaising with the District government (“In my personal and professional life, I’m the one that sits on hold to make sure I can connect to a person and get things done. I’ve long been the squeaky wheel that gets the grease, and isn’t that exactly what an ANC commissioner needs to be?”), while Malinowski possesses a more up-to-the moment understanding of when and how to push for building more homes (“We now have a once-in-a generation opportunity to grow the neighborhood through a new Comprehensive Plan”).
The 5E02 race, which has three candidates, will be decided by a ranked-choice ballot. We recommend ranking Avitabile and Malinowski, in any order. Avitabile and Malinowski’s opponent did not respond to our questionnaire.
