Incumbent Rueckgauer is a GGWash stalwart. He has generously lent his time, expertise, and humor to GGWash’s ANC trainings, and his 35 years in Dupont Circle give him an unparalleled exposure to the proclivities of government agencies. Rueckgauer does not suffer fools when backing more housing, bike lanes, bus lanes, and bars and restaurants.
However, cultivating a deep bench of GGWash-friendly candidates is always in our interest. Epstein very much wants to get into the intimate details of his neighborhood, and his years spent managing campaigns and volunteering for Miriam’s Kitchen are useful entry points to ANC work. His enthusiasm for Dupont Circle and the District is deeply felt, and clearly undergird his support for more housing and more income-restricted, subsidized housing nearby and citywide.
The 2B02 race, which has three candidates, will be decided by a ranked-choice ballot. Rueckgauer and Epstein deserve your vote, in any order.
