Rob Bonta has done a great job as Attorney General, finally going after cities, working with the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) to force cities to approve plans for more homes and come into compliance with new state laws to encourage housing production authored by GOATed State Senator Scott Wiener. He will win reelection handily as the only Democrat running.

Rob Bonta has been an effective Attorney General, and we're happy to endorse him for another term.

For San Francisco voters, Bonta's most important work has been on housing. He co-sponsored SB 1037 (https://oag.ca.gov/news/press-releases/attorney-general-bonta-issues-legal-alert-legislation-authorizing-new-civil) with Scott Wiener, which gave the AG's office real teeth to fine cities that block housing — and he has used them. His office has forced compliance from cities (https://oag.ca.gov/news/press-releases/attorney-general-bonta-newsom-administration-reach-settlement-city-norwalk-over) across California that were illegally stalling housing plans, including settlements with Fullerton, Norwalk, Elk Grove, and Huntington Beach. When the city of Woodside tried to claim it was a cougar habitat to dodge SB 9, Bonta shut it down. Every home that gets built because a NIMBY city was forced to follow the law makes San Francisco's regional housing market a little less insane.

He's also gone after anticompetitive behavior in the rental market. His office got a $7M settlement from Greystar (https://oag.ca.gov/news/press-releases/attorney-general-bonta-announces-7-million-settlement-greystar-participating), the nation's largest landlord, for using software to coordinate rent prices with competitors — basically a cartel run through an algorithm. That kind of enforcement matters to every renter in the Bay Area.

Bonta has also been active defending California against the Trump administration, filing over 50 lawsuits on issues from immigration to environmental protections.

YIMBY Action endorses Rob Bonta for Attorney General because he has been one of the strongest enforcers of California's housing laws. In 2021 he created the Housing Strike Force, the first unit in the AG's office dedicated to holding cities accountable for breaking state housing law. Pro-housing laws only matter if someone enforces them, and Bonta has shown he will.

California families deserve to be safe again. Crime is rising, homelessness is out of control, fraud with taxpayer dollars is rampant, and our children—especially young girls—are not being protected. The Office of Attorney General should be focused on enforcing the law and keeping families safe, not playing politics. I’m a husband and father of five, and like every parent, I want our children to grow up in safe communities. That’s why public safety has always been my top priority. As the City Attorney for Huntington Beach, I fought for the people. I created a city criminal prosecutor program that prosecuted quality-of-life crimes and reduced crime by double digits. We proved that when the law is enforced, communities thrive. As Attorney General, I will make crime illegal again by prosecuting all crimes, including enforcing Proposition 36, and use the law to address homelessness by holding criminals accountable while getting people of our streets and into treatment. I will stand up for police, support law enforcement and defend them when they are unfairly attacked. I will also bring proven programs that lowered crime and homelessness in Huntington Beach to cities across California. I will aggressively prosecute fraud and corruption in Sacramento, protect parents’ rights, enforce laws that keep boys out of girls’ sports and support Voter ID. This is a serious office. I will fight for everyday Californians and bring accountability and safety back to California. Learn more at www.Gates4AG.com.

When the gun lobby launched unmerited attacks on California’s strong gun laws, Attorney General Bonta stepped up and successfully defended them. He has also continued to elevate the critical role of frontline violence intervention workers in breaking cycles of violence, and he has proven time and again to be a champion for gun safety reforms that will make all Californians safer from gun violence.

I will be voting for Rob Bonta, who is anti-trump, protect abortion rights. Although, I would love to vote for Majorie Mikels because she is anti-war, pro human rights, resist and refuse imperialism and fascism, and anti-surveillance. However, I'm a little skeptical because she is 80 years old and this is a 4-year term :(

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement: “These candidates are the bold champions we expect from a state that has long been a leader in protecting reproductive freedom. While Trump and his anti-abortion allies work to push care out of reach, Rob Bonta, Eleni Kounalakis, Caroline Menjivar, and Deborah Klein Lopez are committed to protecting Californians’ fundamental freedoms. Health care, fair elections, and abortion access are on the line this year, and making sure these candidates advance to November is critical to defending our rights and our futures.” Reproductive Freedom for All Senior Director of California Campaigns Kristin Slevin released the following statement: “Californians built incredible momentum by approving Prop 50 last year, and our members in California are ready to harness that momentum and elect leaders who understand what is at stake and will fight for reproductive freedom and fair elections. These four candidates have proven time and again that they’ll put Californians first, and our members are ready to help them secure a spot on the November ballot.” Read more about Reproductive Freedom for All’s endorsed candidates here (https://reproductivefreedomforall.org/elections/). Bonta is the proven shield for California — 50+ lawsuits defending us against federal overreach on immigration, healthcare, and reproductive rights, plus real enforcement of housing laws and protections against fraud and Big Tech.
Gates would flip the office — a former Trump DOJ official who built his career suing California over its own policies.

It’s a clear choice: an AG who fights for Californians, not one who imports a national culture war.

In addition to executing the normal functions of the California attorney general, Rob Bonta has earned a place in my heart for bringing the hammer on reactionary cities that don’t want to comply with state housing laws, such as the efficiently run “city” of Huntington Beach and the checks notes cougar habitat known as Woodside. Four more years.

Bonta is pro-housing and has worked on it with Scott Wiener.

Rob Bonta made history as the first Filipino American to serve as California’s Attorney General. Since his appointment, he has been a leader in fighting for consumer protection, criminal justice reform, and immigrant rights. His reelection campaign represents an opportunity to continue advancing equity, safeguarding civil rights, and ensuring that California remains a model for the nation.

“Rob is a champion for fairness and accountability,” said AAAFund National Chair Albert Shen. “His leadership has set a national example for how an Attorney General can stand on the side of justice and vulnerable communities. Reelecting him means keeping California at the forefront of protecting democracy and advancing equity.”

AAAFund is proud to support Rob Bonta’s reelection and urges allies across California to rally behind his campaign. To further support Rob, please visit https://robbonta.com/.

His office recently brought charges against a fraud ring responsible for $267 million in hospice fraud in Los Angeles, secured significant prison sentences for child sex abusers, and supported litigation that eventually led to the Trump administration dropping their appeals in cases related to rescinding funding from state energy and HUD programs.

MICHAEL GATES will make a FABULOUS CA Attorney General, as he has the necessary experience to do an EXCELLENT job! He is fiscally and socially Conservative.

BACKGROUND: City Attorney for Huntington Beach, a position he 10 yrs. In 2025, he was called by the Trump Administration to the Dept of Justice (DOJ), where he was appointed Deputy Asst Attorney General in the Civil Rights Div, where he oversaw about 100 attorneys across Employment, Voting & Elections, Housing & Civil Enforcement, & Criminal sections. He left that job to run for this office, and return to CA, wife and 5 kids.

He has ALL the important endorsements, CA Republican Party, CA Republican Assembly, REFORM CA, Lincoln Club, American Independent Party, police & sheriffs' Associations, and individuals, like PASTOR JACK HIBBS of Calvary Chino Hills, STEVE HILTON-Gov Candidate, DON BARNES-OC Sheriff, JON VOIGHT-actor, ALEX VILLANUEVA-Former LA Co Sheriff, STEVE GARVEY-former Dodger & former CA Senate Candidate, and virtually every elected Republican official in CA.

Bonta was an Oakland/Alameda assemblyman and then became the state's AG. Most people would say he has done a good job protecting our large, populous state from trump's depredations. Recently he let an important antitrust media deal slip through to a settlement which freaked out media watchers. My guess is that the guy who initially appointed him, the guv, ordered him to do it.

This decision was very important because in his fights with the trump administration, he has been the leader. Without California, it's more difficult to fight and win. But our governor was warned that Hollywood could lose its hold on the entertainment industry if we didn't let the Ellisons take over all major studios including CNN. I'll let you think about why Hollywood is fading but it seems this kind of desperate measure will not bring it back.

Michael is amazing! He has a great record of standing up to government overreach.

Michael's Priorities include:

• Combatting Fraud, Waste, Mismanagement

• Ensuring Election Integrity

• Protecting Girls & Upholding Parents' Rights

• Protecting Local Control from SAC Overreach

• Public Safety & Supporting Law Enforcement

• Tackling Homelessness

• Enforcing Environmental Laws

• Giving Local Agencies-not Sacramento Bureaucrats-Control to Protect Their Beautiful Communities

Michael's long list of Endorsements include:

CA Republican Party, the California Republican Assembly, and Sen. John M.W. Moorlach (Ret.)

American Independent + Shasta Republican Party endorsed

Deputy United States Attorney - CAGOP, ACRP, COCO, HJTA, RC, CRA, and HB endorsed
