California General Election
California Superintendent of Public Instruction

The California Superintendent of Public Instruction oversees every school system in the state and manages the distribution of state funding to local school districts. We need a state superintendent who will work with us on real budget solutions, not cuts to staffing and student programs to balance the budget.
Endorsed by state affiliates, Richard Barrera has a proven commitment to working with educators and families as president of the San Diego Unified School District to fight for more school funding and housing affordability to address declining enrollment.

Proposition 2: California Budget Stabilization Account Cap Increase and Gann Limit Changes Amendment
Proposition 3: California Renew State Income Tax Increase for Education Funding Initiative
Proposition 3 would permanently continue the existing tax on California’s 2% wealthiest residents — which generates billions of dollars every year directly for classroom and instructional needs, including educator salaries. If Prop 3 isn’t passed this year, LAUSD could stand to lose close to $839 million annually.
State affiliates have endorsed YES on Prop 3 to fight back potential losses to public education funding. Joining educators up and down California to support Prop 3 is the first step to protecting the funding we have and setting up to fight for more.
