Abdul El-Sayed is running to represent Michigan in the United States Senate. El-Sayed was born and raised in Michigan where he graduated from the University of Michigan, then earned a doctorate in public health from Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and an M.D. from Columbia University. Rather than practicing medicine, he built a career in public health leadership and academia, teaching at Columbia, then serving as Detroit’s health director and later Wayne County’s health director.

El-Sayed has distilled his campaign platform into a three-part message: "money out of politics, money in your pocket and Medicare for All." On healthcare, he backs a single-payer, Medicare for All system, a subject he's literally co-written a book about implementing nationwide. On money in politics, he emphasizes that he's never taken corporate donations for his campaign. Beyond those core priorities, his platform covers an economy and healthcare system that works for everyone, affordable housing, clean air and water, accessible education, and a foreign policy rooted in diplomacy. He's also rolled out more targeted proposals, like a plan for seniors that would eliminate Medicare cost-sharing, lift the Social Security payroll tax cap, and create a federal framework for state-level property tax freezes. His broader platform has also included calls for Medicare for all, abolishing ICE, and campaign finance reform.

El-Sayed has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: American Federation of Teachers - Michigan, Michigan Education Association, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Michigan United Action, Detroit Action, and Clean Water Action.

El-Sayed’s opponent in this race is Republican Mike Rogers who is fully endorsed by President Donald Trump. He is staunchly anti-choice and voted for anti-choice legislation when he served in the US House of Representatives. While in congress he also voted against the Affordable Care Act, received over $670,000 from the pharmaceutical industry, and was a leading advocate for expanded access to opioids which helped fuel the opioid crisis.

Abdul El-Sayed is the most progressive choice in this race.

Christian Vukasovich is the most progressive choice in this race.

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is running to be the next governor of Michigan. Benson earned a master’s degree in sociology as a Marshall Scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford, and received her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. She started her career investigating hate groups for the Southern Poverty Law Center and went on to make history as the youngest woman to lead an accredited law school when she became the dean of Wayne State Law School at 35.

Benson was elected to the position of Michigan Secretary of State in 2018 and has transformed the office of Secretary of State during her tenure. Under her leadership the SOS has greatly expanded online services, cut wait times to 20 minutes or less, and created over 150 self-service stations at local branches and grocery stores. What used to be one of the most dreaded tasks is now streamlined and efficient. Also during Benson's tenure she has worked hard to secure Michigan elections and expand voter access.

Benson’s campaign lists eight main priorities: affordability, housing, healthcare, childcare, energy costs, education, environment and data centers. On healthcare specifically, she has outlined a policy vision centered on access, affordability, and fairness, including a new caregiver tax credit, help with insurance disputes, and a prescription drug affordability board to control medicine costs. On housing, she's emphasized holding out-of-state landlords and corporate buyers accountable for driving up rent as a way to bring down housing costs. She has also continued to stress protecting abortion rights and voting rights, issues that have been central to her tenure as secretary of state. Since winning the Democratic primary in early August, Benson has framed the general election around whether state government works for everyday residents or powerful political and corporate interests, pledging to work across the aisle while promising to challenge those who stand in her way.

Benson’s running mate for Lieutenant Governor is State Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks. Under Brinks’s leadership, the Michigan Senate passed historic legislation to invest in education and infrastructure; protect and expand the rights of voters, workers, women, and LGBTQ+ Michiganders; and repealed harmful Republican laws that taxed retirement and made Michigan a “right-to-work” state. Brinks served in the Michigan House for six years before being elected to the Michigan Senate in 2018. Prior to her House service, she worked for a nonprofit organization in Grand Rapids focusing on economic development.

Benson has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: American Federation of Teachers - Michigan, Michigan Education Association, Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Michigan United Action, Michigan Association for Justice, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Service Employees International Union - Michigan.

Benson’s opponent in this race is Republican John James who currently serves as US Representative in the 10th congressional district. James has been a very vocal ally of President Donald Trump and he has worked to advance Trump’s agenda. He voted in favor of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act which stripped many Michiganders of Medicaid and SNAP benefits. His running mate, state Rep. Jay DeBoyer, espouses right-wing views on many issues and has developed a conservative voting record in the legislature.

Jocelyn Benson is the most progressive choice in this race.

Eli Savit is running to be the next Attorney General of Michigan. Savit was born and raised in Ann Arbor and graduated with his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan. He currently serves as the Prosecuting Attorney for Washtenaw County where he established dedicated special-victims and domestic violence units and established Michigan’s first Economic Justice Unit which ensures that corporations are held accountable for harm done to workers and consumers.

Savit’s campaign is centered on consumer and worker protection, pledging to crack down on wage theft, payroll fraud, labor trafficking, and unsafe working conditions, and to defend workers' right to organize, building on the state's only stand-alone worker and consumer-rights unit he created as county prosecutor. He's also emphasized taking on corporate polluters and price-gouging businesses, and continuing his focus on white-collar crime. On civil rights, he's positioned himself as a civil rights litigator ready to fill gaps left by reduced federal enforcement, working to protect Michiganders' rights regardless of race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Savit has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: American Federation of Teachers - Michigan, Michigan Education Association, Equality Michigan Action Network, Michigan AFL-CIO, Sierra Club - Michigan, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Michigan United Action, and Service Employees International Union - Michigan.

Savit’s opponent in this race is Republican Doug Lloyd who has opposed extreme risk protection orders, called for broader authority to prosecute unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud, was open to prosecuting abortion providers under Michigan’s 1931 abortion ban, and threatened to defund Michigan cities that did not comply with Trump’s extreme immigration policies.

Eli Savit is the most progressive choice in this race.

Garlin Gilchrist, who currently serves as Lieutenant Governor of Michigan, is running to be Michigan’s next Secretary of State. He trained as an engineer at the University of Michigan and after a few years of working in the field he shifted to political advocacy work in DC which included working for MoveOn.org and President Obama’s 2008 campaign. He returned to Michigan in 2014 to work for Mayor Mike Duggan’s administration as director of innovation where he created the “Improve Detroit” app to help residents report issues like potholes and water problems.

As lieutenant governor since 2019, Gilchrist co-chaired Michigan's task forces on jail and pretrial incarceration and on juvenile justice, helping pass criminal justice legislation aimed at building a fairer system while saving taxpayer money. He chaired the state's COVID-19 Racial Disparities Task Force during the pandemic, work credited with helping Michigan lead the nation in addressing racial disparities in health outcomes. He's also focused heavily on expanding broadband access, connecting over 27,000 homes and businesses to reliable, affordable high-speed internet, and has touted delivering roughly 60,000 new housing units statewide over a recent three-year period along with expanded access to affordable health care. He additionally served as chair of the National Lieutenant Governors Association and became the first Black lieutenant governor in Michigan history.

As Secretary of State, Gilchrist would focus on protecting voting rights and election security, pushing for more transparency around dark money in politics, and defending residents' voter registration and license-plate data from misuse by big tech and the Trump administration. He also wants to modernize licensing and registration services and hold auto repair companies accountable for ripping off consumers.

Gilchrist has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: American Federation of Teachers - Michigan, Michigan Education Association, Equality Michigan Action Network, Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Michigan United Action, and Service Employees International Union - Michigan.

Gilchrist’s opponent in this race is Republican Anthony Forlini who is currently serving as the Clerk for Macomb County. Forlini supports Trump's SAVE Act which could disenfranchise Michigan voters and hired a J6 rioter and election denier into his office in Macomb.

Garlin Gilchrist is the most progressive choice in this race.

Victory is a member of the Michigan State Senate, representing District 31. His term ends January 1 2027. He has supported restricting voting rights, is anti-reproductive rights, and holds irresponsible right-wing views on guns.

Chief Justice Megan Cavanagh and Justice Noah Hood are the two Democratic Party-nominated incumbents running for reelection to the Michigan Supreme Court. They have each spent their careers standing up to corrupt politicians and holding big corporations accountable.

Chief Justice Cavanagh grew up in East Lansing and built her career as a top appellate attorney—ensuring the justice system is transparent and people-centered. Justice Hood is a Detroit native, who built his career as a prosecutor—earning national recognition for his skill combating financial crimes, and public corruption.

On the bench, Justices Cavanagh and Hood are focused on protecting the freedoms enshrined in the Michigan Constitution — including the right to abortion access, voting rights, and workers’ rights. They will continue to protect our democracy and fight back against any attempt to interfere with Michigan elections and undermine the will of Michigan voters.

Justices Cavanagh and Hood are endorsed by Michigan AFL-CIO, AFT Michigan, Michigan LCV, and Service Employees International Union - Michigan.

Casandra Morse-Bills and Michael Warren are the Republican Party-nominated candidates for the Michigan Supreme Court. They each have a dangerous history of corrupt behavior. Warren used his position as judge to enrich himself, forcing people appearing before him to listen to his book and selling it to colleagues. Morse-Bills failed to disclose a conflict of interest where her own cousin was seated as a juror on a child sexual abuse case that Morse-Bills oversaw, and she reportedly text him during the trial.

Ashleigh Baker is running for her first term in the Michigan State Senate.

Baker was motivated to run for Senate because she knows firsthand what it’s like to live on a tight budget, navigate broken systems, and feel like politicians are ignoring your concerns. She works as a veterinary assistant while raising five kids, demonstrating a work ethic that will serve her and the 17th District well in the State Senate.

Baker has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: meets criteria for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan.

Baker’s opponent in this race is incumbent Jonathan Lindsey, a MAGA Republican who has developed a conservative voting record throughout his time in the legislature, opposing bills that have expanded the rights of workers, women, and voters. He has also been endorsed by Right to Life of Michigan, an anti-choice organization.

Ashleigh Baker is the better choice in this race.

Cole Slaski is a Democrat running for his first term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 36th District.

Slaski is running against Republican incumbent Steve Carra who is an election denier who stands against LGBTQ+ rights and is also endorsed by the anti-reproductive freedom organization Right to Life Michigan and the right-wing organization Citizens for Traditional Values. Carra voted against legislation that would ban child marriage and in 2021 he signed onto a letter to then Vice President Mike Pence, which asked Pence to delay the certification of the 2020 election based on unfounded allegations of election fraud.

We cannot speak to the progressive bonafides of Cole Slaski due to limited available information. However, they are running against Steve Carra who is decidedly anti-progressive. Because their opponent is so extreme, we believe Cole Slaski is the best choice in this race.
