James Talarico is an eighth-generation Texan, former middle school teacher, and Presbyterian seminarian who has served in the Texas House of Representatives since 2018. He passed bipartisan legislation to fund public schools, expand job opportunities for young adults, and lower the cost of child care, housing, and prescription drugs. Now, he’s running for U.S. Senate to take his fight against corruption to Washington and win power back for working people.

Katy Padilla Stout is a child welfare attorney, former public school teacher, and Democratic nominee for Texas’ 23rd Congressional District. Raised in San Antonio by a single mother, Katy comes from a family of South Texas migrant farmworkers. She earned her education degree from UT Austin and taught elementary school in Northside ISD before pursuing a legal career advocating for children and families. She serves on the Bexar County Child Welfare Board and the board of Artvango Therapeutic Services, a nonprofit helping children heal from abuse and trauma. Katy is running to lower costs, improve access to health care, and strengthen public schools across South and West Texas. She is the mother of four, including two children adopted through foster care.

Gina Hinojosa serves in the state legislature, where she is a consistent and fierce advocate for working people and public schools. As Governor, she'll take on the broken system that gives corrupt deals to corporations and political donors while the rest of us struggle to stay afloat. Gina's plan will save our schools and put more money in your pockets by cracking down on out-of-control data centers, lowering your property taxes and providing every household with a $1,500 refund to cover some of the costs from decades of corruption.

Born and raised in Arizona, JoAnna Mendoza is the daughter of farmworkers who taught her the values of hard work and resilience. At 17, Jo enlisted in the U.S. Navy before joining the U.S. Marine Corps. She deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and trained the next generation of Marines as a Drill Instructor. After two decades of service, Jo returned home to raise her son and continue her life of service. Jo became a nonprofit leader, veterans’ advocate, and worked as a congressional staffer. Jo has lived the struggles of rural poverty, military sacrifice, and single motherhood, and has never stopped fighting for her community. In Congress, she will fight for Southern Arizona by working to lower costs, grow economic opportunity, and protect our national security.

Attorney General Kris Mayes is a mom and Arizonan who grew up in the rural town of Prescott. Raised by a public-school teacher and a neighborhood pharmacist, she began her career as a journalist focused on accountability. She served in the Napolitano administration and was elected to the Arizona Corporation Commission where she created thousands of good-paying jobs and helped save consumers billions. After winning by only 280 votes, Kris Mayes returned the Attorney General’s office to its core mission: protecting Arizona families from the cartels, fraudsters, and scammers; standing up to greedy corporate interests when they illegally raise prices; and defending our personal freedoms.

A member of the Navajo Nation, Clara Pratte grew up in Lupton, Arizona, without electricity or running water until middle school—an experience that shaped her commitment to reliable, affordable, and clean energy. She has served under three US Presidents and four Navajo Nation Presidents, holding senior roles advancing economic and tribal policy. Now an owner and co-founder of Navajo Power, she promotes responsible solar development across the Southwest—especially for off the grid communities living on rural tribal land. If elected, Clara would become the first Native American to win statewide office in Arizona. She is running to lower costs, protect consumers, and expand sustainable energy production to make Arizona a better, affordable state for all.

Teresa Benitez-Thompson is a longtime Reno resident, licensed social worker, former Nevada State Assemblywoman, and candidate for Congress in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District. Teresa and her husband are raising their four children in Northern Nevada. Teresa began her career helping children with special needs find adoptive families before working in the medical field supporting terminally ill patients across five Northern Nevada counties. She was elected to the Nevada State Assembly in 2010, where she served for 12 years and became the first woman from Northern Nevada to serve as Majority Leader. Known for working across the aisle, 87% of the bills she sponsored received bipartisan support. After leaving the Legislature, Teresa served as Chief of Staff in the Nevada Attorney General’s Office. She is running for Congress to make Northern Nevada a more affordable, thriving place to live and raise a family.

Tanya Miller is the Democratic Nominee for Attorney General, a Georgia State Representative, and Chair of the House Democratic Caucus. A distinguished trial attorney with over two decades of experience, Tanya was raised by a proud union worker who instilled in her the values of hard work and resilience. From her early days with a paper route to balancing motherhood while becoming a lawyer, Tanya’s path has been defined by perseverance. Her extensive public service includes roles as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, a Fulton County prosecutor, and now a state legislator and General Counsel to the Georgia Federation of Public Service Employees. A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, Tanya is dedicated to protecting working families, rooting out corruption, and ensuring the Attorney General’s office serves the people of Georgia.

Shelia Edwards is the Democratic nominee for the Georgia Public Service Commission and a community leader, entrepreneur, and public policy professional. She is running to put People Before Profits by prioritizing affordability, accountability, and a clean energy future for Georgia. Shelia has advocated for Georgia ratepayers, challenged repeated utility rate increases, and called for large energy users, including data centers, to pay their fair share rather than shifting costs to families and small businesses. She supports investments in clean, reliable energy, including expanded solar. Shelia began her career with Lockheed Space Operations supporting NASA’s Space Shuttle Program at Kennedy Space Center and later served as District Director for Congressman David Scott and Interim Executive Director of the Georgia House Democratic Caucus. She holds a Communications degree from Benedict College, completed executive leadership training at Emory University, and is pursuing graduate studies in public policy at Georgia State University.

State Representative Ruwa Romman is the first Palestinian elected to any public office in the state of Georgia. While some know Representative Romman as the Palestinian speaker who wasn’t allowed onstage at the 2024 DNC, she has also been organizing in Georgia for over 12 years to flip the state. Ruwa is now running for State Senate because the old playbook has failed too many times. At a moment of fear and uncertainty, Ruwa believes that when we all organize, we can build a better future.

Justice Anita Earls is an experienced jurist and former civil rights attorney. Elected to the Supreme Court in 2018, she is running for re-election in 2026. Her values of justice, equality, and fairness for all were born of the struggle she experienced growing up in a mixed-race family at a time when interracial marriages were illegal in most of the country. These values shaped her passion to fight for the rights of ordinary citizens across North Carolina. For over 30 years, she stood alongside people whose right to vote was denied, people who were mistreated at work, and the parents of children being denied equal educational opportunities. Anita’s legal career began at the Ferguson, Stein firm in Charlotte. She served as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice, and then worked at the UNC Center for Civil Rights. In 2007, Anita founded the Southern Coalition for Social Justice. Justice Earls shares Way to Lead’s vision for a multiracial, inclusive and responsive democracy, but as a judicial candidate, has not committed and cannot commit to any policy priorities, platforms or rulings by accepting Way to Lead’s endorsement.
