Judge Patton was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1997. She was appointed to the circuit court in 2018 and elected in 2020. From 2018 until 2023, she was assigned to the County Division, hearing mental health, real estate taxation, civil asset forfeiture, and election law cases. From 2023 to the present, Judge Patton has served in the Law Division, Trial Section, where she hears complex matters exceeding $30,000, involving personal injury, wrongful death, medical or legal malpractice and motor vehicle accidents.
Judge Patton has served as an adjunct professor at UIC and has written articles for the CBA and ABA. She is the past president of the CBA. The super majority of respondents were complimentary about her legal knowledge, sensitivity, temperament, character and diligence. ISBA recommends Judge Nichole C. Patton be retained to the Circuit Court of Cook County.
