California General Election
U.S. House California District 11

SF YIMBY is proud to endorse Scott Wiener in his historic Congressional bid. The YIMBY movement would not be anywhere near where it is today if not for the work and influence of Scott Wiener. In his nine years as a State Senator, he has worked tirelessly on impactful legislation that has ignited the YIMBY movement nationwide and inspired countless other legislators throughout the country. We have no doubt he can have the same impact in Congress. Highlights of his long legislative record include: SB 35 one of his first bills, removed needless roadblocks and sped up the production thousands of affordable homes across California and over 3,400 in just San Francisco alone SB 828 reformed state planning law and actually provided a real path to require San Francisco to produce the homes it desperately needs SB 423 permanently codified SB 35 and added provisions to make it stronger SB 79 his most recent achievement, legalized multi-family housing near major transit hubs throughout the state Scott has been unwavering in his commitment to building more housing, even when it was politically difficult. He has been the YIMBY movement's most important champion in elected office, and we stand with the leader who has stood with us from the beginning. As the YIMBY movement goes nationwide, we can't think of a better champion to represent us in Washington.
California Attorney General
California State Assembly - District 17
California State Assembly - District 19
San Francisco County Assessor/Recorder
Joaquin Torres is running unopposed for another term as Assessor-Recorder, and SF YIMBY is happy to endorse him again. While this office's core job — fairly assessing the city's roughly $350 billion in taxable property and maintaining public records — isn't a land-use lever, Torres has built a long track record as a reliable pro-housing official. For 12 years, as President of the SF Housing Authority Commission, Torres led the rehabilitation of over 3,400 units of public housing with roughly $1 billion in improvements, ultimately transferring that housing to affordable-housing operators who could run it better, and grew the number of families served by 20% to over 16,500 households. He stepped down from that role in 2025 after stabilizing what had long been a troubled agency, and his successor inherited a much stronger foundation because of it. Torres has also served on SPUR's executive board, supporting the kind of urbanist research and advocacy that aligns with our own priorities.
San Francisco County Board of Supervisors - District 2

SF YIMBY and its District 2 subchapter Northern Neighbors proudly endorses Stephen Sherrill for San Francisco City Supervisor, District 2. Over his time in office, Supervisor Sherrill has demonstrated a results-oriented approach that reflects the priorities of his district. We have been encouraged by his pro-housing record, including his vote and vocal support for the Family Zoning Plan, and his willingness to help advance key projects that add homes such as 3333 and 3700 California Street. These actions show a clear understanding that addressing the housing shortage is essential to maintaining the vitality of District 2 and the City as a whole. Equally important, Supervisor Sherrill has been consistently accessible and engaged with community organizations, including ours. While we have not always agreed with every position he has taken, his proactive engagement with us on issues that he knows we care about, stands out.
San Francisco County Board of Supervisors - District 4

SF YIMBY endorses Alan Wong for San Francisco City Supervisor, District 4. Supervisor Alan Wong took office on December 1, 2025. In his short time on the Board so far, he has already been a pro-housing champion. Alan voted to approve the Family Zoning Plan, strongly demonstrating his support for our cause - that we need more homes in the Sunset and across the city. Alan also supports removing unnecessary permitting and development fees, streamlining the overly complex and lengthy approval processes, and offering credits and waivers for constructing new Accessory Dwelling Units in the city. Though we have developed concerns over NIMBY stances on key housing projects in his area, we feel he is still the best choice for the Sunset in this election.
San Francisco County Board of Supervisors - District 6
SF YIMBY endorsed Matt Dorsey in the previous election and he has shown himself to be a major leader on housing in the Board of Supervisors ever since. He has backed the Family Zoning Plan, the 6th Cycle Housing Element, upzoning in Central SoMa and Mission Bay, and fee and inclusionary reductions for adaptive reuse and office-to-residential conversions. He has voted to reject every housing appeal that has come before the Board during his term, and used his seat to support state-level bills like SB 35 and SB 79. Looking forward, Supervisor Dorsey is excited about the advancement of state bill AB 2074, which would streamline high-rise residential construction near regional transit hubs. He would like to work on local analogues to the fee transparency and predictability reforms that YIMBY has pushed at the state level and further streamline ADU approvals. On the state's 25,000-unit rezoning mandate, he would like to continue to upzone transit-rich corridors like The Hub, Van Ness, and Market Street, while ensuring that west-side neighborhoods finally carry their fair share. SF YIMBY endorses Matt Dorsey to continue to champion the housing legislations and reforms that the city needs.
San Francisco Board of Supervisors District 8
SF YIMBY is endorsing Gary McCoy due to his history of commitment to YIMBYism and his strong potential as a member of the Board of Supervisors. McCoy has been a public ally in our fight for more housing for a decade, and has a great focus in his policy goals toward things that make housing of all kinds easier to build. His vision along with his political savvy will help San Francisco build more of the housing we desperately need.
San Francisco County Board of Supervisors - District 10

SF YIMBY endorses Theo Ellington for District 10 supervisor. We support the commitments he made in his SF YIMBY questionnaire: six-story single-stair buildings, more homes near transit, objective by-right approvals, project shot clocks, and consequences when review deadlines are missed. We agree with Theo that housing and a modern industrial economy are not an either/or. SF YIMBY estimates that about 11,000 District 10 parcels carry a special exemption from SB 79’s transit-oriented housing rules, most under a "low-resource" exemption, making it harder and more expensive to build much needed homes. Theo has committed to begin a community and economic-development planning process within his first 30 days. SF YIMBY will track whether that process produces real outcomes and homes.
Bay Area Rapid Transit District Board - District 8
SF YIMBY is proud to endorse Sara Barz for Bart Board District 8. Sara has years of experience in transportation and supports more housing in the Bay Area. She is a co-founder of Seamless Bay Area, an organization dedicated to making transit fares more integrated across the region. Her technical experience has enabled mobile payments for public transportation around the world. Housing needs transportation and transportation needs dense housing. Sara has the vision to support BART and housing in both the nearterm and longterm. She supports building more housing near BART stations (transit oriented development) which would help both BART’s ridership recovery and address our housing crisis. As part of her long-term vision, she supports planning for more rail transit on the West side of San Francisco, enabling more connectivity in an area recently upzoned by the City. SF YIMBY endorses Sara as someone with the technical knowledge to fill the role and as someone who understands the need for better housing and public transportation in the Bay Area.
Measure G: Allowing Private Vehicles on the Great Highway in Sunset Dunes Park
In the 2024 General Election, San Franciscans voted to create a large, permanent, oceanfront park where the Great Highway once was, to make a more liveable and enjoyable city for all of us to call home. Since April 12, 2025, the 2-mile oceanfront park has been used every day of the year, averaging 4,900 daily visits (3,800 on weekdays, 7,200 on weekend days and holidays). Former Supervisor Mar has publicly changed his opinion in favor of the park, having seen the impact firsthand. SF YIMBY is proud to continue to support this park and endorses voting NO to closing the park and bringing back the highway.
