On campaign finance: I have always counted on strong grassroots support - everyday people who cared about the direction of District 1 and San Francisco. I have been tapping into and expanding that network through this campaign. We do not take corporate PAC dollars because I believe our U.S. Representative should only be beholden to the working people of CA-11.

On healthcare: I support a universal healthcare system and specifically a single payer system such as Medicare for All with appropriate transparency and accountability measures to ensure we keep our focus on providing high quality care for every person.

On taxing billionaires: I would absolutely support a tax on billionaires. I support San Francisco's June ballot measure that will increase our City's Overpaid CEO Tax which levies additional taxes on companies with executives who earn more than 100 times the salaries of their average employee. I also support the proposed California billionaire tax that would fund healthcare. I have consistently supported progressive revenue measures to ensure that those with the most resources pay their fair share, and I will continue to do so in Congress to support progressive taxation nationwide.

As an immigrant myself, I will fight for the rights of immigrants and protect San Francisco's status as a Sanctuary City. I will also fight the unjust, anti-democratic policies of the Trump Administration as it seeks to deny due process to immigrants, unlawfully target citizens and even overturn birthright citizenship and the citizenship of naturalized Americans.

The property and casualty insurance industry reported record-breaking profits of $169 billion last year—a 90% increase over 2023 and a staggering 333% increase over 2022. Meanwhile, everyday Californians are seeing their premiums rise, while hundreds of thousands of policies are being cancelled. Insurance is supposed to reduce our collective risk and protect our biggest investments. For most working families, that means our homes, our cars and our pension plans. In practice, the insurance industry plays a major role in determining who in California gets to build wealth—and at what cost. But instead of focusing on providing a critical service, the industry has made maximizing profit its primary mission.

I'm running for Insurance Commissioner because this under-the-radar, under-leveraged office is a powerful platform—one from which we can advance a bold agenda for working families and re-imagine and re-design to serve working Californians.

• Develop a single payer home disaster and auto insurance for all.

• Cap CEO pay and excessive insurance profits. Big insurers make billions off our premiums yet often deny coverage or claims. We need to refocus what insurance is supposed to be: protection for residents, not an investment fund for insurers.

• Draft a plan to make Medicare for Kids a reality in California. Every child in California should have guaranteed health care.

The role of Insurance Commissioner is to regulate the $3.3 trillion insurance industry and protect millions of California consumers from unfair practices and access to coverage. I will exercise the authority of the office to push back on unfair pricing, cancellations and non-renewals. The insurance industry has a history of redlining in working class communities and communities of color and while many practices are illegal, these laws need to be aggressively enforced.
