Kung is a co-founder of No Data Center Monterey Park and emerged as a leader in the grassroots fight against a proposed hyperscale data center near his neighborhood. Working with residents and SGV Progressive Action, organizers held multilingual teach-ins, canvassed neighborhoods and built a petition campaign that drew thousands of signatures. Kung is endorsed by the Working Families Party, No Data Center Monterey Park, La Comadre Network, SGVoices Communities for Change and ArtPAC, along with several local community leaders.
