Cook County Circuit Court Maura McMahon Zeller's seat

Judge Zeller was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1993. She was elected to a circuit court countywide vacancy in 2020. She was assigned to Traffic Court until she her transfer to the Domestic Relations Division in October 2021, where she has served ever since. She handles an Individual Calendar, wherein she hears cases from filing to conclusion, and post-decree.

Prior to becoming a judge, Judge Zeller worked as a Public Guardian, representing children in the Child Protection Division of Juvenile Court for 10 years. For 17 years thereafter, she had her own practice in guardianships; she served as a Child Representative and mediator in Domestic Relations. Interviewees described her legal knowledge, diligence, sensitivity, and character as good, with temperament being a particular strong point. ISBA recommends Judge Maura McMahon Zeller be retained to the Circuit Court of Cook County.
