Student visas fuel American innovation. They work to maintain the United States as the global innovation hub by bringing in the best talent the world has to offer. By denying or revoking visas, not only do we hurt our own national progress but we also participate in something that is distinctly unAmerican. This country was built on immigrants and it's not a zero sum game. Students and their ability to learn should be protected.
Location: My efforts are focused on Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, PA, along with the nearby schools and universities such as the University of Pittsburgh.
Tech schools where the curriculum is primarily centered around the sciences and technology, are notoriously apathetic. However, progress without a strong and real understanding of the people that will interact with new technologies is incredibly dangerous. I believe every student should take at minimum several classes to gain an appreciation for people, no matter how similar or different they are from them, in addition to their technological curriculum.
Location: The universities and schools in the Pittsburgh area. While this matters nationally, my efforts are focused on schools in the Pittsburgh Public School district and general Allegheny area.
