Santa Monica City Council
Caroline Torosis, Brett Morrow, Daniel Ivanov - This election isn't until November, so the candidate field will widen. You have to vote for three people, and I would support the slate that Caroline Torosis (current mayor) aims to build. It looks like that slate will include Brett Morrow as of now, third person on her slate to be decided.
West Hollywood City Council
Chelsea Byers
Chelsea Lee Byers - You have to vote for three councilmembers this year as three seats are up for election. Chelsea is the only incumbent on this list, and a tireless advocate for progressive local governance, from tenant and worker protections to new capital projects serving West Hollywood's transit ecosystem. New candidates will present themselves and start their campaigns as summer comes along. Stay Tuned!
A note: Unite Here Local 11 has a strong foothold on the city council races here because the city itself is so small. A council seat can be decided by like, 10 votes. This city is weird though... progressivism means something much more intangible in the city's politics, even though I think extension of Metro's K line through WeHo, new paved and protected bike lanes, and small business protections with further apartment developments are necessary progressive issues that the current city council majority has tackled well.
San Francisco County Board of Supervisors - District 8
Gary McCoy - Has Pelosi's support, having worked for her, and is an avid supporter of the recovery community in SF/Castro. Will be a strong force in this election. I hope he becomes more critical of the Family Zoning Plan though...
