This proposal will permit the Authority to levy up to 1.75 mills, which would replace the 1.9239 mills authorized in August 2026 by the members of the Authority excluding Bay Township (that joined the
Authority after the August election) for the purpose of providing funds for operating, equipping, and maintaining ambulance services within the territorial limits of the Authority for the years 2026-2028,
inclusive. This question, if passed, would direct the collection of the above-referenced millage rate in the Authority jurisdictions eligible for tax levies, including newly admitted Bay Township. If not
passed, the August 2026 millage will remain in effect.
Shall the previous voted tax increase as authorized by Act 57 of 1988 of 1.9239 mills ($1.9239 per $1,000 of taxable value) on all taxable property within the prior territorial limits of the Lake Charlevoix
Emergency Medical Service Authority (Hayes Township, Charlevoix Township,
Michigan) be renewed and amended to levy a reduced up to 1.75 mills ($1.75 per $1,000 of taxable value) on all taxable value within the current territorial limits of the Authority (the jurisdictions above
with the addition of Bay Township) for the same three (3) years, 2026 through 2028 inclusive, for the same purpose of providing funds for operating, equipping, and maintaining ambulance services
within the territorial limits of the Authority, raising an estimated $2,430,179 in the first year the millage is levied?
