St. James township Question 8 is on the November 3, 2026 ballot in Michigan.
On your ballot
The Township currently levies 0.2457 mills (originally 0.25 mills, rolled back by the Headlee Amendment) to support the Beaver Island Historical Society. This proposal would authorize an additional 0.2543 mills, bringing the total levy for the Historical Society to 0.5 mills.
Shall St. James Township impose an increase of up to 0.2543 mills ($0.2543 per $1,000 of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution and levy it for
two (2) years, 2026 through 2027 inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for the Beaver Island Historical Society, which 0.2543-mills increase will raise an estimated $17,290 in the first year the millage is levied?
