“This is a controversial pick—I went with the establishment. If you choose to vote for the upset candidate (Munoz) I don’t blame you, it was a hard decision for me. Here’s the two issues I based this on: 1. Data centers—Sollman backed a disastrous data center bill in the spring, and rightfully got destroyed for it. Her community pushed back big time, and I think she (and the governor) have learned their lesson. Also, voting for the anti-data center candidates for Washington County Commission will continue to keep data centers under control. 2. Education—I am wary about sending an Oregon Department of Education employee to the legislature. Munoz has built an impressive career as an educator, but to course correct our public schools, I think we need reps who will think outside the box. Sollman (who has also worked in education and been a school board member) has proven she’s not always in lockstep with OEA, which will be an asset for any future education legislation.”

“One of the highly competitive Democratic primaries this cycle. John “Waz” Wasielewski is a middle school teacher, and I think that’s valuable experience to bring to the legislature as we hope to see major education bills next year. Waz is the “upset” candidate—Nguyen is the establishment candidate who has served well, but hasn’t pushed for progress in the ways I would hope for. Whoever wins this primary will (most likely) go on to win in November, so now is the chance to choose your representative!”
