Judge Sheahan was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1996. She was elected to the circuit court in 2014 and retained in 2020. She was assigned to First Municipal until 2017, when she was moved to the Motions Section of the Law Division. Her current assignment is in Law Division – Trial Section.
Judge Sheahan is said to be knowledgeable about the law and always prepared. She is said to be sensitive to issues of diversity. Judge Sheahan is described as impartial, professional and hardworking. She has the ability to stay neutral and keep control of her courtroom, with a pleasant, consistent demeanor. ISBA recommends Judge Patricia O’Brien Sheahan be retained to the Circuit Court of Cook County.
