ISBA:
Judge Mulroe was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1988. He started his career as a Cook County State’s Attorney. From 1995 until his appointment in 2019, he had his own firm, concentrating in real estate, probate, personal injury, and criminal defense. From 2010 to 2019, he also served as an Illinois state senator. After his appointment, Judge Mulroe was assigned to Traffic Court and also served in Forcible Entry/Detainer and Eviction Courts. After his election in 2020, he was transferred to Juvenile Justice, where he has been ever since.
Judge Mulroe has volunteered as a mock trial judge and coach for community and legal organizations. He has worked with Redeploy Illinois, with the pilot program in his courtroom. He is also working on the bench book for Juvenile Justice Court. All comments about Judge Mulroe’s legal knowledge, sensitivity, temperament, diligence, and character were very favorable. ISBA recommends Judge John G. Mulroe be retained to the Circuit Court of Cook County.
