ISBA:
Judge Forti was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1980. After a career in private practice, employment with the City of Chicago – Law Department and Chief Counsel for the Illinois Department of Transportation, he was appointed to the circuit court in 2016, reappointed in 2018, became an associate judge in January 2020, then elected in November. His current assignment is in Domestic Relations where he presides over an Individual Calendar. He is a member of various bar and judicial associations and sits on the board of the Italian American Judges Association and Music of the Baroque.
Attorneys described him as highly skilled and knowledgeable on domestic relations matters, issuing well-reasoned decisions, while being respectful and patient. ISBA recommends Judge Michael A. Forti be retained to the Circuit Court of Cook County.
