Judge Hansen was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1998. She was elected to the circuit court in 2014 and retained in 2020. She is currently assigned to the Second Municipal District (Skokie), where she presides over a felony courtroom and also serves as Deputy Presiding Judge. Prior to her election she had been a private general practitioner and a prosecutor. She is a founding member and past president of the Asian American Judges Association of Illinois and has been an instructor for new judges. She received the Chicago Bar Association Vanguard Award in 2022 as the Filipino American Lawyers Association nominee and also received the Women’s Leadership Award in 2021 from the South Asian Bar Association.
Attorneys praised her legal knowledge, research abilities, and her impartiality and thoroughness. ISBA recommends Judge Anjana Hansen be retained to the Circuit Court of Cook County.
