ISBA:
Judge Mescall was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2007 and elected to the Cook Circuit Court in 2020; this is her first retention election. Judge Mescall has been assigned to Domestic Relations in Fifth Municipal District (Bridgeview) since July 2025. Before this, she sat in the First Municipal District – Civil Jury. Before becoming a judge, she was a prosecutor in New Mexico from 2002 until 2007 when she moved to Chicago and became an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Felony Trial Division.
Judge Mescall is a member of several bar associations and teaches Trial Advocacy at the University of Illinois Law School. Comments about her temperament, sensitivity and preparedness were uniformly positive. There were concerns voiced about her legal knowledge and impartiality in her new assignment in Domestic Relations Court. She appears interested in improving and willing to learn. ISBA recommends Judge Regina Ann Mescall be retained to the Circuit Court of Cook County.
