ISBA:
Judge McGuire was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1991. After running a private practice focusing on estate planning, probate and real estate, he was elected to the Circuit Court in 2014 and retained in 2020. After an initial assignment in Traffic Court, in 2018 he was assigned to the Probate Division, where he currently sits in the Decedent Estates Section. He has been a speaker on legal topics and involved as a volunteer with various programs related to the Restorative Justice courts. In 2025 he received a Judicial Honoree award from Chicago Volunteer Legal Services and was inducted into their Ring of Honor.
Attorneys gave overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding his legal knowledge and ability, his level-headedness and understanding of complex matters. ISBA recommends Judge Terrence J. McGuire be retained to the Circuit Court of Cook County.
