Judge Dempsey was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2002 and elected to the circuit court in 2020. After initial assignments in Traffic and First Municipal, in May 2024 she was assigned to the Law Division, Motions Section, where she currently presides. She has been a speaker in legal topics, is a member of various bar associations, teaches martial arts and volunteers with various community groups. Prior to her election, she had been in private practice with various firms handling civil defense litigation.
Judge Dempsey was described as being very smart with an immense amount of legal knowledge and integrity; she is considered to be diligent and slow to anger. ISBA recommends Judge Maire Aileen Dempsey be retained to the Circuit Court of Cook County.
