Judge Romanek was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1987. She was appointed to the circuit court in August 2014; elected in November 2014 and retained in 2020. She served in evictions, pro se civil, municipal civil courts. In 2015, she was assigned to Domestic Relations individual docket. In 2025, she became a Supervising Judge in Domestic Relations. She is active in the community and has written articles for bar publications.
Judge Romanek is said to be knowledgeable, efficient, punctual, and fair-minded. ISBA recommends Judge Abbey Fishman Romanek be retained to the Circuit Court of Cook County.
